A large home addition or whole house renovation requires an understanding between the homeowners and contractor to ensure that the remodel is completed in a satisfactory manner. Before the project commences, plans need to be in place so the renovation proceeds efficiently. With that in mind, Balsitis Contracting coordinates a pre-construction meeting at our client’s home to discuss a variety of factors that go into the project.
Daily Schedule
Balsitis Contracting has an established daily work schedule, but the times of day we work can be impacted by a variety of factors. We will provide our daily schedule, taking into account your personal and family schedule, particularly if you will be residing in the home during the renovation.
Site Admittance and Security
We will formalize who will be coming onto your property and if necessary, obtain alarm security codes so our staff can access your home. This also includes providing entry through locked gates.
Vehicle Parking
Based on where you reside, we will determine the most appropriate locations for placement of dumpsters and equipment, as well as where vehicles will be parked and deliveries made. If necessary, we will secure the needed permits for parking and waste collection receptacles.
Protection of Property
We do a property walk-through, inside and out, with our clients to identify the areas that require additional attention to safety. This may result in the installation of temporary barrier walls, storing fragile materials, and moving or covering flowers and plants. In addition, we will identify the locations of the gas and water shutoff valves and electrical panels. We will also determine if there are any areas of the home where the power or water cannot be turned off and make the necessary accommodations.
Pets and Household Workers
The activity and noise generated with a large remodeling project can be worrisome to pets, so it is necessary to make arrangements for your pets to ensure their safety. Also, if there are staff that work in or outside the house on a regular basis, it is important for us to know those schedules to make schedule adjustments as needed.
Neighbors
We encourage our clients to advise their neighbors of the renovation project, including the typical work hours and anticipated length of project. This prepares them for the increased activity in the area and potential impacts as it relates to vehicle traffic. If the client desires, Balsitis Contracting can send a letter to neighbors advising them of the project and what to expect during construction.
At Balsitis Contracting, we know communication at the outset and throughout the project is key to making the renovation as stress-free as possible. Call our office at 262-203-3952, e-mail info@balsitiscontracting.com, or complete our online form to begin the process of remodeling your home.
